What's Up in North Wilkesboro?

Posted on July 14, 2020 at 11:01 AM by Crystal Keener

Are you going stir-crazy yet? Are you struggling to find a safe outdoor summer activity for the whole family to enjoy? Well look no further! Go check out the restored Yadkin River Greenway at West Park trailhead! Through the successful collaboration of the Town of North Wilkesboro, the Yadkin River Greenway group, and Dr. Chris Roberts, DDS, repairs have been made to the deck and ramps near Brushy Mountain Dental office.

“Work was completed by a local contractor for $15,000”, says Dale Shumate, the Town’s Public Services Director. The newly restored Yadkin River Greenway is ready to welcome walkers, runners, strollers, hikers, cyclists, and wheelchairs. The Greenway is perfect for families and exercise enthusiasts with the majority of the trail paved, or anyone who wishes to sample the beauty of North Wilkesboro’s scenic nature. Greenway Ramp repair

This Greenway is a natural area between urban communities where wildlife, vegetation, and streams are preserved and enjoyed. The track is 7.5 miles long from W. Kerr Scott Dam in Wilkesboro to Smoot Park here in North Wilkesboro.

The Greenway is open year-round from sunup to sundown, so grab some water, get the kids out of the house, and finally soak up some vitamin D!
