Notice of temporary street closings for paving work

[NORTH WILKESBORO, NC, MAY 3, 2021] – This coming Wednesday, May 5, 2021, 9th St. between Main St. and D St. will be closed for milling. This project is being performed in preparation for repaving work that will take place over the next few weeks. Likewise, C St. between 9th and CBD Loop will also be closed for milling in the coming weeks.

The milling and repaving project will take place in stages, so motorists can expect intermittent closures throughout the month of May.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes this Wednesday. Workers, visitors, and downtown residents who use 9th St. and the 900 and 1000 blocks of C St. for parking are encouraged to use other locations. Other parking options include the town-owned lot on the 800 block of C St., on-street parking on the 800 block of C St., and town-owned lots between Main St. and the southern portion of the CBD Loop.

The project is being performed by Carl Rose & Sons Asphalt Paving for the cost of approximately $89,000. It is funded with the town’s FY20-21 Powell Bill allocation. Powell Bill funds are distributed to municipalities by the State of North Carolina for street maintenance and other eligible transportation needs.
