Wilson came to North Wilkesboro from the City of Charlotte, where he served in various capacities for over twelve years. In North Wilkesboro, Wilson oversees the day-to-day operations of the town government. He coordinates the departments, ensuring that their work aligns with the priorities of the elected Board of Commissioners. He is responsible for preparing the annual town budget, and creating and enforcing administrative policies for the town. He supports the work of the elected Commissioners by creating their bi-monthly agendas, and acting as their primary policy advisor.

From 2006 to 2007 Wilson served as an ICMA Local Government Management Fellow. He is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Charlotte. He completed ICMA’s Emerging Leaders Development Program in 2014. He grew up in Lexington, North Carolina. His wife, Kate, is a graduate of Wilkes Central High School. They have two children: Caroline, 8, and William, 4.
