Mercury Recycling

Light Bulb Recycling Process DiagramMercury can be dangerous to humans and the environment. Recycling prevents the release of mercury into the environment. Fluorescent and other mercury-containing bulbs often break when thrown into a dumpster, trash can or compactor, or when they end up in a landfill or incinerator. The Town of North Wilkesboro started a mercury recycling program August 1, 2015. This will include the proper disposal of fluorescent bulbs as well as old thermostats.
